Observers note that while the alliance aims to consolidate votes and challenge the YSRCP, underlying caste dynamics and past rivalries may complicate voter transfers between the three parties. Despite these challenges, some analysts believe that the alliance could still influence electoral outcomes if managed effectively in the remaining month before the elections.

YS Sharmila, the Andhra Pradesh Congress chief and the party's candidate from Kadapa, criticised Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party leader Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday for his recent comments labelling the Congress as "remote-controlled."
Sharmila condemned CM Reddy's remarks, alleging that it is actually the Chief Minister who is "remote-controlled" by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, she strongly opposed CM Reddy's statements.
"Jagan Mohan Reddy commented yesterday that the Congress party is remote-controlled by Chandrababu Naidu. Congress party condemns this strongly and that it is Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is being remote-controlled by PM Modi," Sharmila stated.
She further elaborated on her criticism by pointing out specific instances where she believes CM Reddy has yielded to outside influences.
"PM Modi requested for the Gangavaram Port to be given to Adani and Jagan Mohan Reddy obliged, not only one but many such projects. Jagan Mohan Reddy obliged and gave the reliance (RIL group president Parimal Nathwanithe) Rajya Sabha seat. Being a Christian himself Jagan Mohan Reddy saw the atrocities on the Christians in Manipur and still supported the BJP," she stated.
Earlier in the week, CM Jagan had accused the opposition in the state of using his sisters, including Sharmila, to undermine the YSRCP. He expressed concerns about their involvement in what he termed as a conspiracy against him.
"Unable to face me alone in the political arena, TDP-JSP-BJP is united to conspire against me. Unfortunately, my two sisters (referring to Sharmila and Sunita) are being used as part of their conspiracy," CM Jagan remarked.
Sharmila's entry into Congress earlier this year followed the merger of her party, the YSR Telangana Party, into the Congress fold.
The upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh are scheduled to be held simultaneously on May 13, with the counting of votes set for June 4. In the 2019 elections, the YSRCP secured a significant victory in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls, consolidating its position in the state's political landscape.

Former BJP MLA Jitender Singh Shunty registered a complaint with Delhi Police on Monday, reporting a death threat allegedly issued by a Khalistani extremist. The complaint, submitted by Shunty, who is a Padma Shri awardee, detailed a threatening WhatsApp call received on Monday, where the caller, speaking in Punjabi, explicitly threatened both Shunty and his son with violence.
In a letter addressed to Shahdara Deputy Commissioner and Vivek Vihar SHO, Shunty recounted the menacing call, stating, "I received a call on WhatsApp during which the (anonymous) caller threatened to kill me and my son Sardar Jyoti Jeet." Speaking further to ANI, Shunty disclosed that the caller accused them of speaking out "a lot against Khalistan" and ominously declared that their "last time has arrived."
Highlighting his ongoing concerns, Shunty expressed in the letter that he and his family are "under constant threat" from radical extremist groups, particularly pro-Khalistan factions. He pointed out that his son, a BJP spokesperson in Delhi, has been vocal against Khalistani extremism in various forums, including television interviews and public platforms.
Shunty also mentioned that a video featuring his son holding a placard against Khalistan at Delhi's Connaught Place had gained widespread attention globally.
Known for his charitable initiatives through organisations like Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sewa Dal and Shaheed-Ae-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation, Shunty's affiliation with the BJP dates back to 2008, with his electoral victory in the 2013 Delhi assembly elections from Shahdara.
Shunty's Padma Shri, conferred upon him in 2021 for his philanthropic endeavours during the Covid-19 pandemic, was dedicated to his fellow frontline workers, underscoring his commitment to public service and community welfare.

Former BJP MLA reports death threat from alleged Khalistani extremist, seeks Police intervention

In a significant development, the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch apprehended two individuals, Satish Vansola and RB Baria, for their alleged involvement in disseminating a fabricated video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Media reports suggest that both suspects have close ties to leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress.
Meanwhile, as per reports from ANI, the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of the Delhi Police has issued summons to 16 individuals spanning across 7 to 8 states. These summons are in connection with the circulation of a 'doctored' video featuring Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The contentious video, deemed 'fake,' purportedly captures the Union Home Minister expressing opposition to reservations in the country, a claim vehemently refuted by the BJP as they flagged the clip as doctored.
The summonses were issued under Sections 91 and 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). These sections mandate the summoned persons to participate in the investigation and provide pertinent documents and electronic devices as evidence.
Police sources reveal that among those summoned are six members of the ruling Congress in Telangana, including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The individuals have been directed to appear for questioning on May 1 at the IFSO unit located in Delhi's Dwarka.
CrPC Section 160 empowers law enforcement to summon individuals for investigative purposes, while Section 91 enables them to request specific documents and electronic gadgets crucial to the case.
Earlier, on Monday, Delhi Police summoned Telangana CM Revanth Reddy in connection with the 'fake' video involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The police underscored the significance of the suspects' physical presence or their provision of responses via email during the May 1 interrogation. Depending on their cooperation, the investigation will progress accordingly, stated law enforcement officials.
The summonses explicitly instructed all individuals to bring their mobile phones and laptops for scrutiny during the inquiry.
Additionally, Assam Police made an arrest on Monday, apprehending Reetom Singh, marking the first arrest in the 'doctored' video case. Sources indicate that the video clip in question was shared by several Congress leaders.
Earlier complaints filed by BJP's Telangana unit accused CM Revanth Reddy and the Congress state chief of fabricating and morphing Amit Shah's speech. The complaint alleged that the official Telangana Congress Pradesh Congress Party X handle posted a 'morphed' and 'fabricated' video of Amit Shah.
In his speech at a public meeting in Congress-governed Telangana, Shah purportedly mentioned, " If the BJP forms the government here, we will withdraw the unconstitutional reservations to Muslims here. We will ensure that the SCs, STs and OBCs get quotas as guaranteed under the Constitution."
CM Reddy has been summoned to appear before Delhi Police's IFSO unit (Cyber Unit) on May 1 along with his mobile phone for further investigation.

Arrested individuals tied to AAP and Congress in alleged Amit Shah video case

Amid the election fervour in Karnataka, Hassan Member of Parliament (MP) Prajwal Revanna, grandson of JD(S) stalwart and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, found himself entangled in a purported sex scandal that has stirred controversy in the state.
Reports emerged of hundreds of explicit videos allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna being circulated extensively within the Hassan constituency. The 33-year-old MP was contesting from the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, which recently went to polls on April 26.
While these explicit videos circulated widely in the Hassan LS constituency ahead of the polling, police initially refrained from acting due to the absence of formal complaints from the victims.
In response to the allegations, JD(S) leader and Prajwal Revanna's father, HD Revanna, addressed the situation, denouncing what he termed as a conspiracy against his son. He expressed confidence in the legal process and urged for an investigation into the matter.
However, a complaint was eventually filed on behalf of Prajwal Revanna, alleging that the videos were doctored to tarnish his image.
Adding to the turmoil, Prajwal Revanna and his father and JD(S) leader HD Revanna faced a sexual harassment case lodged by their former house help. The FIR, under sections 354A, 354D, 506, and 509 of the IPC, accuses them of sexual harassment, intimidation, and outraging the dignity of a woman.
The complainant detailed instances of alleged sexual assault and inappropriate behaviour, including incidents where Prajwal Revanna purportedly behaved rudely and made unwanted advances toward her.
Amid mounting pressure and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the scandal, Prajwal Revanna left the country, according to statements from official sources.
The Karnataka government swiftly responded to the situation by constituting an SIT, comprising senior police officers, to investigate the allegations thoroughly. The SIT's mandate includes examining all related cases registered across the state and utilising CID resources for a comprehensive probe.
Various political figures, including JD(S) leaders and opposition parties, have weighed in on the controversy, with some urging decisive action and others distancing themselves pending the SIT's findings.
The scandal surrounding Prajwal Revanna has cast a shadow over the political landscape in Karnataka, prompting calls for transparency and accountability in addressing such sensitive matters.

So, the ceremony went ahead as planned. There were largely no disturbances or riot like situations in the nation. That is a big plus. Although, there was some issue in Mira Road, Mumbai, but that was dealt with by public initially, and then by the administration. Strong message has been sent to the perpetrators.

PM Modi did not mention Babur or Masjid or any sort of demolition in his speech. His speech was a constructive one which incited positive emotions. This signifies that it is time to look forward to the future and not delve into the past. PS – Don’t forget the past, but at the same time don’t let it haunt you.

In his speech, PM Modi mentioned numerous times how it is a new era, a new ‘kaal chakra’, and how this day would be remembered for thousands of years to come. This speaks on the overall mentality/plan of the Government to establish Bharat as the Vishwaguru on the ideals of a Ram Rajya (not to be confused with a Hindu Raashtra – More on that later).

PM Modi did throw a subtle political jibe when he said how he is sorry that it took 500 years for Shri Ram to return to Ayodhya. The innocent way of apologising did make the listeners think about what the previous governments were doing.

Later he asked “shri Ram ka mandir toh bann gaya, ab aage kya? Sadiyon ka intezaar toh khatam ho gaya, ab aage kya?” I’ll tell you aage kya.
The polity of the world has been largely influenced by the Vatican and the Mecca. It is the apt time for a third axis – Ayodhya ji.
