Kejriwal calls Delhi LG's statement a political conspiracy

A day after Delhi's Lieutenant Governor maintained that the city's administration will not be controlled from prison, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal labelled it a "political conspiracy" and predicted that "the people will respond."

Just moments before his court appearance on Thursday, Kejriwal addressed Saxena's statement, denouncing it as part of a larger political plot. He said that the public would offer a fitting response to such political manoeuvres.

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case linked to Delhi's excise policy. He was subsequently held in ED's custody until March 28 by a local court.

Despite calls for his resignation, AAP leaders have consistently maintained that Kejriwal will continue to oversee the government's affairs even while in detention.

In response to LG Saxena's statement, Kejriwal asserted that his administration wouldn't be governed from behind bars, setting the stage for a potentially contentious political standoff.
